Job Summary

This is a rare opportunity to join a well-established South Australian practice with a genuine pathway to future co-ownership. Backed by two on-site GP supervisors, MRCGP holders with CCT need only three to six months of light-touch supervision under Australia’s expedited pathway, with just one Saturday in two on the roster.

The Practice

• Established practice serving the Gawler community for several decades under continuous local ownership, with a long-standing, multi-generational patient base.
• Two on-site GP supervisors mean MRCGP holders with CCT need only three to six months of light-touch Level 1 supervision under Australia’s expedited AHPRA pathway.
• Broad scope for special interests, including skin cancer checks and minor excisions, women’s health procedures, and structured chronic disease management.
• A clinic-only model with strong hospital relationships, so admitted patients are still followed easily by the treating GP.

Location Overview

Gawler South sits at the gateway to the Barossa Valley, one of Australia’s premier wine regions, with cellar doors including Penfolds, Jacob’s Creek and Yalumba just a short drive away. The town itself is South Australia’s first officially surveyed country town, its Victorian-era heritage streetscape home to the Murray Street Mall’s cafes, galleries and boutique shops. Families are well served by Para Wirra Conservation Park for hiking among native wildlife, and the Gawler & Barossa Jockey Club for regular race meetings, while Adelaide’s CBD is around 40 minutes away by car, or a little over an hour by train, for city amenities and coastal access. Independent schooling options include Trinity College and Immanuel Lutheran School, and it’s a relaxed, community-focused setting for GPs wanting country town living within easy reach of the city.

Skills and Requirements

• Qualified as a General Practitioner, registered with the AMC and eligible for RACGP Fellowship, or MRCGP with CCT for Australia’s expedited pathway.
• MRCGP or equivalent qualification.
• Genuine long-term intent to relocate to Australia.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, comfortable working within a supervised training environment.
