ARRS funding ends on 31 March
As we approach the end of the financial year, many GP practices and PCNs face a frustrating reality: ARRS funding that could have been used to support patient care is at serious risk of going unspent. The deadline is clear. ARRS funding ends on 31 March. Any unused money will be returned.
Recent FOI data paints a stark picture. It’s estimated that over £100 million of ARRS funding will be handed back in April. On average, a 50,000-patient PCN is expected to underspend by £78,000, with some PCNs exceeding £200,000 in unutilised funding.
This is money that was specifically allocated to strengthen primary care capacity, and once it’s gone, it’s gone.

Why this matters (now and later)
Beyond the immediate loss of funding, there’s a bigger strategic risk.
There is growing pressure within primary care to see ARRS funding rolled into the global sum in future contracts. But imagine the precedent this sets if policymakers respond by saying: “You only get what you actually used.”
If ARRS funding isn’t spent, the argument becomes simple: you didn’t need it.
That’s not a position GP practices want to be in – especially when workload, access, and workforce pressures remain as intense as ever.
The challenge: spending ARRS in time
We speak to practices every day who tell us the same thing:
- “We don’t have time to recruit.”
- “We can’t find ARRS-compliant GPs.”
- “We don’t have consulting room space.”
- “The admin feels overwhelming this late in the year.”
All understandable, but none of these need to stop you using your funding.
How Menlo Park can help
Menlo Park has already helped hundreds of GP practices and PCNs successfully utilise their ARRS funding by recruiting ARRS-compliant GPs.
We make the process simple:
- We source, interview and fully vet suitable GPs
- You retain full control and final say on who you hire
- Access to a network of 4,000 GPs who meet ARRS criteria
- Rapid mobilisation to ensure funding is used before the deadline
All you need to do is:
- Book the GP’s appointments, and
- Submit the claim via the ARRS portal
We handle the heavy lifting.
No room? No problem.
If consulting room space is a concern, we can recruit remote GPs who:
- Deliver telephone consultations
- Support clinical admin and workflow
- Help relieve pressure on your existing team
You can still fully utilise your ARRS funding… without needing physical space.
Act now! The clock is ticking. ARRS funding ends on 31 March!
With only days left before the 31 March deadline, speed matters. The sooner we start, the more likely we are to secure a solution that works for your practice or PCN.
Please don’t let your ARRS funding be part of the money handed back in April.
