Background

This is a genuinely different kind of Salaried GP role. A blended position combining Urgent Treatment Centre sessions with Enhanced Access and routine clinical work, built around a practice that has deliberately stripped GP admin back to the essentials. There is no traditional duty doctor list here. Instead, dedicated Clinical Support sessions mean you are never carrying a full list on top of covering the wider team.

Location

The practice is based in Ashford, Kent, a well-connected market town with excellent transport links, including a high-speed rail service to London St Pancras in around 38 minutes. Canterbury is around 30 minutes away by car, and Maidstone around 35 minutes, making the role accessible from across east Kent.

The Practice

• GP Training Practice, with GP registrars currently in post and a structured mentor programme supporting clinicians in their first five years of general practice
• Rated Outstanding overall by the CQC, with the Responsive and Well-led domains also rated Outstanding
• No traditional duty doctor list. Instead, dedicated Clinical Support sessions mean you are never carrying a full list on top of covering the team
• Genuinely reduced GP admin, with a dedicated medicines management team and secretarial referral support taking on the bulk of scripts and paperwork
• Award-recognised paediatric walk-in clinic built into the working day
• Genuinely low home-visiting requirement, with the majority covered by the practice’s own paramedics
• Mid-sized practice with a strong partnership team and a large salaried GP team

Your Role

• 6 sessions per week, blending Urgent Treatment Centre sessions at the local hospital with Enhanced Access and routine Clinical Support sessions based at the practice
• UTC sessions are treat-and-complete, with no attached admin
• Total triage model with a pooled list, so there is no personal list to manage
• Enhanced Access sessions on Saturdays, with dates agreed with you in advance
• Clinical Support days involve short blocks of time supporting other clinicians, including wound reviews, second opinions for paramedics, signing off ECGs and supporting GP registrars, rather than holding a booked list

Salary and Benefits

• £12,500 per session

• 6 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays

You must be qualified as a General Practitioner and registered with the GMC and UK performers list.
