Background

Genuinely personal, capped patient lists. Home visits are handled almost entirely by paramedics, with a recent six-week audit showing just two visits per GP on average. This is a rare salaried opportunity where the working day is built to protect clinical time rather than add pressure to it.

Location

The role is based near Southampton, Hampshire, in an area with a very mixed demographic but only low levels of deprivation. Southampton itself is a short drive away, with Fareham around 20 minutes and Portsmouth around 30 minutes, giving candidates a genuine choice of coastal, town and countryside living within easy commuting distance.

The Practice

• Established GP Training Practice, teaching registrar doctors and Southampton medical students.
• Genuinely tech forward, using AI assisted triage and consultation support tools designed to protect GP time rather than add to it.
• Large partnership team and a large salaried GP team, supported by Advanced Nurse Practitioners, paramedics and a wider multidisciplinary team.
• Rock solid staff retention
• Rated Good by the CQC across all five domains.

Your Role

• 2 x Salaried GP posts available, with flexible sessions – a minimum of 4 per post up to full-time, across 12 sessions currently on offer.
• Genuinely personal patient lists, capped to ensure that continuity remains sustainable
• 25 patients per day, 4 of which are protected continuity slots only you can book
• 15-minute appointments as standard
• Home visiting is almost entirely covered by paramedics, with GPs choosing to take on visits rather than having them booked into their list.
• Admin time built into the working template, not squeezed around appointments.
• Scope to pick up a care home list if wanted, plus support for interests such as coil fitting, minor operations and injections.
• Extended hours are opt-in.
• You must be qualified as a General Practitioner and registered with the GMC and UK performers list.
