Background

This is a genuinely rural, dispensing practice where the working week is built around continuity of care rather than volume. The clinical model here is deliberately light touch: no on-call rota, minimal home visits, and day-to-day triage handled by an experienced ANP, leaving GPs free to focus on patients rather than admin. It’s a small, close-knit team where colleagues genuinely know and look out for each other.

Location

The practice sits in the Golden Valley, a rural pocket of South Herefordshire, around 25 minutes from Hereford and 20 minutes from Abergavenny, with Monmouth also within commuting distance too. It’s a popular area for those wanting a rural lifestyle without being cut off, surrounded by farmland and the Black Mountains, while still being within easy reach of larger towns for shopping, schools and transport links.

The Practice

• GP Training Practice
• CQC rated Good
• Dispensing practice with a strong farming community and a settled, forgiving patient population
• Small, tight-knit team across a diverse leadership structure
• Low administrative burden, with a dedicated GP Assistant filtering clinical correspondence
• Research-active practice that has deliberately preserved a relationship-based, continuity model of care

Your Role

• 6 sessions, ideally worked Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
• BMA-compliant workload, 25 patients a day in 15-minute slots
• No GP on-call or duty doctor rota
• Very few home visits required
• An interest in minor surgery or joint injections would be well received, though this is not essential

Salary and Benefits

• Sessional rate of £12,600+ per session, reviewed annually in line with DDRB uplifts

You must be qualified as a General Practitioner and registered with the GMC and UK performers list.
