Job Summary

This is a rare opportunity to trade the NHS for a private billing practice on Moreton Bay, with a guaranteed minimum of $150 AUD an hour (approximately £80) from day one. Add a built-in patient base, no evenings or weekends, and Brisbane just 45 minutes away, and this is a genuine lifestyle change without the earnings risk.

The Practice

• Private billing clinic, charging appropriately for GP time, with stronger earning potential than a bulk billing model.
• Small, all-British GP team of three, plus an experienced nurse practitioner on hand for day-to-day support.
• One-hour lunch break every day, no evenings, no weekends – a genuinely protected working day.
• Built-in patient base of 4,000-plus, with over 1,000 more expected as nearby retirement villages open.
• Modern billing system with built-in prompts for Medicare items, keeping admin to a minimum.
• Owner-led, family-first culture that rearranges rosters around your life when it matters.

Benefits

• Guaranteed minimum of $150 AUD an hour, or 70% of billings if higher, for your first three months (approximately £80 an hour).
• A 70% fee split on billings, among the strongest in the market.
• Typical daily billing of around $2,000 AUD (approximately £1,060) at a relaxed pace, with more available if you want it.
• Full visa sponsorship and APRA support, with hands-on help if approvals stall.
• Flexible full-time roster: four 10-hour days or five 8-hour days, with a flexible start and finish.
• Mentorship from three UK-trained GPs already settled into Australian general practice.
• Room to build special interests such as skin cancer medicine, procedural work, cosmetic treatments, and travel and scuba medicine.
• Ongoing CPD support to help you develop new clinical skills at your own pace.
• Full nurse and clinical support for complex cases, so you’re never managing procedural work alone.
• A 12-month contract, extendable to 24 months, with no lock-in mentality if your circumstances change.

Location Overview

Beachmere is a quiet fishing village on Moreton Bay, with beach access, a boat ramp and horse riding at low tide, just 38km north of Brisbane. North Lakes is 20-25 minutes away for shopping, schools and a well-established British expat community, while Bribie Island’s surf beaches and nippers programmes are half an hour further. Brisbane CBD and the international airport are both under 45 minutes away, with Sunshine Coast beaches a similar distance north. Families are well served too – The Lakes College, rated ICSEA 1125, is among the top-performing schools in the region, and North Lakes offers all levels of schooling within easy reach.

Skills and Requirements

• Qualified General Practitioner, registered with the GMC and UK Performers List, or eligible for AMC/RACGP registration
• MRCGP or equivalent qualification
• Commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care
• Strong communication skills and comfortable working independently
