GP – Drug and Alcohol Misuse

Summary

An exciting opportunity for a GP to develop a portfolio career within Drug and Alcohol misuse. This could work either in isolation to your current role, or you could pick up additional Salaried sessions alongside the D&A work.

The provider is looking for a new GP due to progression within the organisation, and requires a minimum of 5 years’ post-CCT experience.

This is an opportunity to support people on their recovery journey, combining substance misuse work with general practice.

Salary – £82,856.80 to £100,586.95 per annum (FTE) + Indemnity insurance paid + NHS Pension + 6 weeks annual leave + 1 week study leave.

Location – Workington

The service –

• 4 sessions per week (to include a Tuesday)
• 30-minute face-to-face appointments
• 7 patients per session
• Long-standing provider of Drug and Alcohol services in Workington
• Extensive MDT for support
• Friendly and supportive employer
• CPD encouraged

Your role –

• Provide shared‑care substance misuse services following national clinical guidelines.
• Conduct annual health‑checks including BBV screening and immunisations.
• Undertake substitute opiate prescribing and alcohol detox prescribing.
• Provide POCT drug screening, naloxone and DBTS kits where appropriate.
• Hold MDT meetings for complex cases.
• Provide general medical services including consultations, results, referrals and prescribing.
• Engage in safeguarding, family support and relevant signposting
• You must be qualified as a General Practitioner and registered with the GMC and UK Performers List
