15-minute appointments, no duty doctor and an admin team that makes sure you only see what you genuinely need to. This practice has worked hard to build a sustainable working day for its GPs, and the GPs we have placed here speak very highly of it. Location

Barnstaple is the largest town in North Devon, with Exmoor National Park and the beaches of the North Devon coast close by. Bideford and South Molton are both around 20 minutes’ drive away, Ilfracombe is around 25 minutes, and Exeter is roughly an hour and 10 minutes by car or reachable directly by train.

The Practice

• Mid-sized practice in spacious, purpose-built premises
• Teaching practice welcoming medical students
• Close-knit salaried GP team with supportive clinical leadership
• Broad multidisciplinary team including nurse practitioners, a clinical pharmacist, first contact physiotherapists, mental health and wellbeing support, and a visiting paramedic service
• Experienced admin team handles incoming correspondence and coding, with dedicated safeguarding support
• Forward-thinking approach, piloting new ways of supporting patients with long-term conditions and building closer links with secondary care
• CQC rated Good

Your Role

• 4 or 5 sessions per week, with Wednesday and Friday as fixed days
• 15-minute appointments throughout
• No duty doctor: on-the-day demand is absorbed equally by embargoed same-day slots
• Admin time built into every session, plus a rota’d admin afternoon with a lighter, mostly telephone-based list
• Daily coffee break and catch-up with colleagues
• Monthly or fortnightly sessions to develop a specialist interest, with support for further training
• Newly qualified GPs very welcome

Salary and Benefits

• BMA equivalent salaried GP contract
• 6 weeks’ annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata)
• 1 week of study leave (pro rata)
• NHS Pension

You must be qualified as a General Practitioner and registered with the GMC and UK performers list.
