Job Summary

This is a rare opportunity for a UK GP to bring genuine rural generalist skills to a thriving, DPA (Modified Monash 5) classified country practice, earning up to 70% of billings alongside hands-on obstetrics, anaesthetics and surgical exposure in a supportive, 35-year-established team.

The Practice

• A genuinely broad rural generalist scope – minor surgical procedures, obstetrics (including Caesarean sections), anaesthetics (including epidurals), and emergency and inpatient care at Benalla Health.
• DPA (Modified Monash 5) classified, opening Medicare provider access for eligible overseas-trained GPs.
• A long-established country practice, serving the Benalla community for over 35 years, with 16 consulting rooms giving genuine room to grow.
• A registered teaching practice with the University of Melbourne and Murray City Country Coast Training.
• Wide clinical scope beyond core general practice: skin cancer medicine, mental health, youth health, paediatrics and Indigenous health, plus travel medicine and Yellow Fever vaccination.

For something different, the Winton Wetlands offer canoeing and birdwatching, Winton Motor Raceway draws motorsport fans from across the region, and the Gliding Club of Victoria flies out of Benalla Airport for gliding and joy flights. It’s a genuine, close-knit country community, with Melbourne around 2 hours 20 minutes away by car for city amenities whenever you need them.

Skills and Requirements

• Qualified as a General Practitioner, registered with the GMC and UK Performers List, or eligible for AMC/RACGP registration.
• MRCGP or equivalent qualification.
• Comfortable with a broad rural generalist scope – procedural experience or interest in obstetrics, anaesthetics or surgery is a strong asset.
• Commitment to high-quality patient care.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
