    Family Physician – Edmonton, Alberta

    Job Summary

This is a rare opportunity to step straight into an established patient list in a family practice where demand is already waiting, as a departing physician hands over her patients in January. With a 70-80% FFS split and your LMIA costs covered by the practice, it is a strong, well-supported route into Canadian family medicine.

    The Practice

    • An established patient list is ready from day one, with patients actively waiting for a new doctor – no slow build, no advertising and no empty clinics while you settle in.
    • Women’s health and paediatrics are priority areas, with treatment room access for dermatology, wound care and minor procedures.
    • Part of the local PCN, with an in-clinic dietitian, behavioural health consultant, chronic disease nurse and respiratory therapist supporting your patients.
    • A multilingual team serving a diverse community, with care offered in English, Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Russian and Romanian.
    • A personal, supportive culture led by hands-on partners, with notably low physician turnover across three Edmonton sites.

    Benefits

    • A 70-80% fee split on FFS billings, which the practice positions toward the higher end of Canadian standards.
    • LMIA costs covered in full by the practice, smoothing your route to a Canadian work permit.
    • CPSA registration support from Menlo Park at every stage of the process.
    • Billing specialist and referral coordinator on staff, keeping admin off your desk so you can focus on patients.
    • A full week of onboarding covering the clinic’s systems and Canadian billing.
    • Flexible scheduling within full-time hours, with partners open to your preferred days.
    • Saturday cover only around once a month, on a short morning session.
    • Varied clinical work including occupational health, marine medicals and medical CBT for those who want it.
    • Physician couples welcome – the practice is happy to consider dual-doctor households.
    • Relocation support with housing and car rental available to discuss.

    Location Overview

South Edmonton is a safe, family-focused residential area with a strong community feel, just 25 minutes from downtown. Families are well served by highly regarded public and Catholic school districts, including Old Scona, ranked first of 292 high schools in Alberta. Nearby Summerside Lake offers a residents’ beach club with swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking and fishing, while the Whitemud Creek Ravine and the North Saskatchewan River Valley open up miles of hiking and cycling trails. As Alberta’s capital and Canada’s fastest-growing metro area in 2024-25, Edmonton combines big-city amenities with the financial bonus of no provincial sales tax.

    Skills and Requirements

    • MRCGP or equivalent qualifications
    • Eligibility for the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
    • Experience in women’s health and paediatrics is highly desirable
    • Dermatology, wound care or geriatric experience is a welcome addition
    • A collaborative team player who will thrive in a close, supportive practice
