Vaccinations, supplies and Primary Care Awards

As the second week of January draws to a close, we take a look back on the weeks NHS and Primary Care events.

Transparency of COVID timetable

The Prime Minister announced at the start of the third lockdown, that they intended for all the vulnerable group to be vaccinated by mid-February. This claim has prompted doctors and public health leaders to call for more transparency about the logistics of when and how many vaccinations each surgery will be receiving.

The Financial Times reported in their article, that there are GPs who feel there has been a lack of communication between them and the government, which brings with it fears and uncertainty of how and if they can reach their immunisation target of mid-February.

Are you surprised by how the vaccinations programme has been organised so far? How have you found this in your practice? We’re always interested to hear from people in the industry and who are directly dealing with this, day in day out. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to speak to us about your experience.

COVID vaccine allocation

The BBC reported a story in the week, from a GP based in Llanelli. The report highlighted the issues the GP was facing with ordering supplies of the vaccine to his surgery. Dr Hickman stated that he was unable to order any doses of the vaccine until the 25th January, saying this was a cause for him regarding his vulnerable patients.

“We had been trying to recruit a Salaried GP over a year…”

At the end of the week, we highlight some very positive feedback. We had received from a Practice Manager we had helped to find a GP for.

The Practice Manager had been looking for a GP to join their team for over a year. Menlo Park contacted the practice, offered our services and found them a GP who now works at their Practice. This is a really great example of how we can help practices al over the UK. Have you ever worked with a recruitment company before? Are you unsure what’s involved? Feel free to check out our testimonials page. You can also give us a call on 0113 350 1308 and we can explain the process and how we can help.
