GP workload increasing
Over the course of this week, we have highlighted the increased workload of GPs. This is due to the number of patients who are beginning to return to practices. Since lockdown began on 23rd March, patients have been reluctant to make appointments. We explore this in more detail in our article, that you can read here
NHS Waiting lists
Due to the pandemic, many operations have been put on a waiting list. It’s estimated that by the end of the year, the waiting list could be as high as 10 million. The NHS Confederation said “emergency funding and longer-term spending were needed”. This is a result of the healthcare services reducing capacity to 60% because of the COVID.
