Letter to Matt Hancock
At the start of the week, we highlighted a story from the RCGP. Their story surrounded the issues of black, Asian and minority ethnic people, not being prioritised in the vaccine roll out.
The vaccinations have begun across the country, however, the priority list doesn’t include the BAME community. As a result of this, the RCGP wrote to the Health Secretary, Matt Hancock querying this decision. In the letter, they asked for clarification on the decision to not include them, especially given the higher death rate amongst black, Asian and minority ethnic with COVID.

The New Director of Nursing
NHS Fife announced their new Director of Nursing, as Janette Owens. Janette has over 35 years’ experience working in NHS Scotland.
The new position opened, as the current Director, Helen Buchanan, will be retiring next year.
When the announcement was made, Owens was been praised by colleagues for her leadership skills and dedication during the pandemic. Great work, Janette, we wish you all the luck for your new role!
