    Salaried GP | Oswestry

    Background

This is a rare chance to join a practice that has deliberately stepped back from total triage and duty doctor systems, protecting salaried GPs from the volume of e-consult work many peers now face. Sessions are built around continuity and manageable clinical contacts rather than a constant digital inbox. With a supportive, close-knit team and genuine flexibility over how your day is structured, this is general practice run the way many GPs wish it still was.

    Location

The practice is based in Oswestry, Shropshire, a market town close to the Welsh border with good road links via the A5 and A483. Shrewsbury is around 25 minutes away by car, with Wrexham and Whitchurch both within about 30 minutes, giving a good range of commuting options and local amenities.

    The Practice

    • GP Training Practice, hosting GP registrars, medical students and nursing students throughout the year
    • No duty doctor system and no total triage, with clinical workload shared fairly across the whole team
    • Mid-sized practice with a strong partnership team and salaried GP team, working from a single pooled patient list
    • Continuity of care valued alongside flexible, modern ways of working, including GP home visits where clinically appropriate
    • Long-serving, close-knit staff group with low turnover
    • Purpose-built, single-site premises in a central, well-served location
    • Rated Good overall by the Care Quality Commission (CQC)

    Your Role

    • Option to complete admin tasks remotely outside your clinical sessions, with full laptop and home access provided
    • 4 to 6 sessions available, with flexibility on the exact number for the right candidate
    • No requirement to work Mondays, with Thursday and Friday sessions particularly welcomed
    • Flexible start and finish times, with most salaried GPs finishing by around 6.30pm
    • Pooled patient list, with a typical patient contact rate of around 13 per session
    • Low home visiting requirement, averaging fewer than one visit per working day
    • Protected from e-consult triage, which is managed separately by the partnership
    • Study leave and development of clinical special interests actively supported and funded

    Salary and Benefits

    • £12,500 per session
    • NHS Pension
    • Professional fees covered
    • Mileage paid at 54p per mile
    • £500 annual study budget
    • 6 weeks annual leave plus 1 week study leave, and bank holidays
    • BMA-model contract

You must be qualified as a General Practitioner and registered with the GMC and UK performers list.
