    Salaried GP | Central Somerset

    Background

Twenty-four patient contacts a day, a front-loaded morning and protected admin time built into every afternoon. This practice has spent a decade streamlining how it works so GPs can focus on patients, and the GPs we have placed here speak highly of it. Whether you are newly qualified or well established, the team values the right fit far more than years of experience.

    Location

The practice is based in a market town in Central Somerset, with the Somerset Levels and the Mendip Hills on the doorstep. Wells is around 15 minutes away, Bridgwater around 30 minutes and Yeovil around 35 minutes, with Bath and Bristol both roughly an hour’s drive. A nearby mainline station offers direct trains to London.

    The Practice

    • Established GP training practice with a whole-practice teaching culture
    • Dedicated workflow team, refined over ten years, so only GP-relevant tasks reach GPs
    • No duty doctor: same-day demand is shared across clinics, with a nominated GP for any overspill
    • Mid-sized practice serving a varied population, from rural affluence to areas of deprivation
    • Strong partnership team and large salaried GP team, supported by ANPs, physiotherapists and pharmacists
    • Purpose-built, twice-extended premises with plenty of parking
    • Stable, long-serving team that still stops for coffee together at 11am every day
    • Rated Good by CQC

    Your Role

    • 4–6 sessions per week, ideally Wednesday to Friday
    • Mornings: 14 contacts, with 15-minute pre-bookable and 10-minute same-day appointments
    • Afternoons: 10 contacts, with the first hour and final 40 minutes protected for admin
    • Home visits mainly covered by ANPs and registrars
    • Scope to develop women’s health skills, including menopause care
    • Option to add variety through school medical sessions the practice provides
    • Special interests welcomed, existing or ones you would like to develop
    • Partnership potential in the longer term for the right person

    Salary and Benefits

    • BMA model salaried contract
    • NHS Pension
    • 6 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata)
    • 1 week study leave (pro rata)
    • Skilled Worker visa sponsorship considered

You must be qualified as a General Practitioner and registered with the GMC and UK performers list.
