Background

This is a rare opportunity to join a forward-thinking practice as a genuinely additional GP, not a backfill. You will step into a fully-staffed rota with a clean slate and no inherited caseload, working within a modern, purpose-built site designed around protecting clinical time. It is an unusually clean canvas for a Salaried GP who wants high-quality general practice without the usual pressures.

Location

The practice is based in Maidstone, the largest town in Kent, with strong road and rail links across the South East. Nearby towns including Tonbridge (around 20 minutes by car), Sittingbourne (around 20 minutes) and Ashford (around 30 minutes) all offer realistic commuting options, and Maidstone has a mainline rail service into London.

The Practice

• GP Training Practice, with an established and embedded training culture supporting GP trainees and medical students
• Genuinely forward-thinking, an early adopter of total triage and AI-supported triage technology, with clinical correspondence triaged before it reaches GPs
• Low administrative burden, with dedicated admin time built into every session and a wider team absorbing non-clinical work
• Genuinely light home-visiting requirement, with duty and extended hours covered elsewhere in the rota
• Close-knit team culture with daily huddles and a genuine wellbeing infrastructure
• Strong partnership team, salaried GP team and a large wider multidisciplinary team
• CQC rated Good overall, including Outstanding for Well-Led

Your Role

• A genuinely additional post created to meet growing demand, not a backfill, so you start with a clean slate and no inherited caseload
• Working pattern of Thursday (full day) and Friday (a shorter session with flexibility on start and finish time)
• Protected admin and CPD time built into every session
• No routine duty doctor responsibility, and no expectation to take part in extended hours
• Genuinely rare home visits on this working pattern
• Real support for professional development, including routes into education and supervision
• Newly-qualified GPs welcomed and supported

Salary and Benefits

• Sessional rate of £11,500 per session
• NHS Pension Scheme
• Professional indemnity and fees covered where this is your sole employed role
• 6 weeks’ annual leave (pro rata) plus 2 NHS days and bank holidays
• 1 week’s study leave
• BMA model contract

You must be qualified as a General Practitioner and registered with the GMC and UK performers list.
