Job Summary

This is a rare opportunity to join a warm, family-owned practice on Melbourne’s fringe with a ready-made, three-generation patient base from day one. Full-time GPs here are currently taking home an estimated AUD $260,000-$390,000 a year after tax (approximately £140,000-£205,000), backed by strong nursing support and a loyal, growing local community.

The Practice

• Family-owned practice, trading in the local area since 1989 – over 35 years of continuity that patients trust across generations.
• Ready-made patient base, with some families registered for three generations, and 32 new patients joining in August alone.
• Small, sociable team of 3 GPs currently on site, rising to 4 with this hire, with a genuinely close-knit, family-style culture.
• Nurse and nurse practitioner support for care plans, health assessments and wound care, generating additional income alongside your own.
• Broad clinical scope, spanning functional and integrative medicine, women’s health, children’s health, shared maternity care and minor procedures.
• Increasingly diverse patient base, with growing Malaysian, Singaporean, Chinese and Indian communities alongside a majority Anglo-Australian population – Malay and Mandarin are spoken in-house.

Benefits

• A generous 65/35 billing split, with nurse-generated billings adding further income on top.
• Full-time GPs are currently taking home an estimated AUD $400,000- $480,000 a year (approximately £200,00- £250,000).
• Visa sponsorship provided for eligible candidates through the required pathway.
• Flexible annual leave set by doctors themselves, with one current GP taking up to 16 weeks a year.
• No out-of-hours or on-call requirement – clinic hours only, Monday to Saturday.
• Onsite pathology collection and a dedicated skin clinic, reducing the need to refer out routine work.
• Flexible consultation lengths from 15 minutes to an hour, with doctors setting their own daily hours.
• A genuinely close-knit team culture, with regular social events beyond the working day.
• A two to three year contract

Hoppers Crossing sits in Melbourne’s fast-growing south-western corridor, with the city centre just 35-40 minutes away by direct train on the Werribee line. Skills and Requirements

You must be qualified as a General Practitioner and registered with the GMC and UK Performers List, or eligible for registration with the AMC and RACGP.

MRCGP or equivalent qualification.

Comfortable joining a small, sociable team and building long-term relationships with patients and colleagues.

Best suited to a GP looking to settle in Australia for the medium to long term, rather than a short trial period.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.
