Job Summary

This is a rare opportunity to join a practice established for 38 years in Victoria, BC, where full-time physicians bill around C$450,000 a year (approx. £245,000) and keep 74%. With patients queuing for walk-in slots from 7.30am and around half of all work done by phone, you’ll be busy from day one with real control over how you work.

The Practice

• Established since 1988, a large group family practice with an attached walk-in clinic, where each physician runs their own patient list.
• No one dictates how you work – set your own consultation length, from 10 to 15 minutes or longer, with admin blocks built in if you want them.
• A large team ranging from newly qualified to close to retirement, so holiday cover is built in and your results are picked up while you’re away.
• Automated document filing is already in place, with an AI patient recall system in development to cut admin further.
• An in-house Lumps and Bumps clinic with a plastic surgeon, plus a Pap clinic, a pharmacy next door and free parking.

Benefits

• 74% to you of everything processed through the office, with Doctors of BC payments paid straight to you outside the split.
• Full-time billings of around C$450,000 a year (approx. £245,000).
• Current physicians bill up to C$650,000 a year (approx. £350,000).
• The LFP model pays around C$130 (approx. £70) an hour for clinical and admin time, giving stable income from the first day.
• Around 50% phone work, done in blocks, including whole days working from home and optional Sunday telehealth.
• Set your own hours within the clinic’s opening times, with no intrapartum obstetrics or maternity on-call.
• Joint injections and skin procedures welcome, and the owner is willing to buy an ultrasound if you make the case for it.
• Practice succession – one physician retiring in 2030 and two more nearing retirement could open up a practice takeover.
• LMIA support, with Menlo Park guiding you through the process.
• Personal introductions to the clinic lead’s estate agent, private banker, accountant and lawyer to help you settle in.

Location Overview

Saanich is the most populous municipality on Vancouver Island, with downtown Victoria around 10 minutes by car and Vancouver about 35 minutes by floatplane. The walking trails of Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary, Christmas Hill and Rithet’s Bog are close to the clinic, while the vineyards, farm markets and backroads of the Saanich Peninsula start around 10 minutes’ drive north. Brentwood Bay on the Saanich Inlet is popular for kayaking, and nearby Butchart Gardens has welcomed visitors to its floral gardens in a reclaimed limestone quarry since 1904. Current physicians live right across the region, from rural North Saanich to Oak Bay and Langford, so you can choose the setting that suits your family.

Skills and Requirements

• MRCGP or equivalent qualifications
• Eligibility for College of Family Physicians of Canada certification
• A full-service family physician looking to work full time and settle in Victoria for the long term
• An interest in joint injections or skin procedures is a plus, but no specialist skills are required
