Location Overview
Amherstburg is a historic riverside town where the Detroit River meets Lake Erie, named the third safest place in Canada by Maclean’s in 2019 and around 20 minutes from Windsor. Weekends are easy to fill, with riverfront walks through King’s Navy Yard Park, the sandy beach, boardwalk trail and autumn Festival of Hawks at Holiday Beach, and award-winning family wineries across the Essex Pelee Island Coast. Families are well served by a new public high school, Fort Malden’s historic reenactments and year-round events from summer Open Air Weekends to the winter River Lights Festival. Detroit’s major league sport and city life are about half an hour away, with Windsor and Detroit airports both within easy reach.
