    Background

A GP Training Practice where the flexibility is real, not just advertised. Newly qualified and Retainer Scheme GPs are both welcome, with a daily clinical meeting and monthly protected learning behind them. There is also genuine room to build a special interest in women’s health, minor surgery or teaching.

    Location

The practice is in central Gloucester, easy to reach from all directions. Cheltenham is around 25 minutes away by car, Stroud around 30 minutes and Cirencester around 35 minutes, and the current team commutes in from across the county. Staff parking is free.

    The Practice

    • GP Training Practice with two trainers, an ST3 registrar in post and medical students
    • Small practice with a strong partnership team, well resourced without industrial-scale triage or duty teams
    • Wide multidisciplinary team including paramedics, pharmacists employed directly on permanent contracts, nurses, a mental health worker and a respiratory specialist, with a pharmacy team absorbing prescription queries
    • Modern purpose-built building with 15 clinical rooms and lifts
    • Diverse inner-city list, with strong community support including health champions and social groups
    • CQC rated Good

    Your Role

    • Around 6 sessions per week, with flexibility for the right candidate
    • Flexible start times of 8am, 9am or 10am, with the session shifted rather than shortened
    • 13 to 15 contacts per session on 15-minute face-to-face and 10-minute telephone appointments, with nobody expected to stay past 6.30pm
    • Triage is the duty system: roughly one session a week, never a full day, with a paramedic covering most mornings
    • Around one home visit a day across the whole practice, and often none
    • An hour of non-patient time in every four-hour session, plus 15 minutes per session in a weekly admin block
    • No extended hours, no contractual Saturdays and no enhanced access rota
    • Visa sponsorship considered for the right candidate

    Salary and Benefits

    • £10,500 to £12,800 per session, with the DDRB uplift applied every year
    • 6 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays
    • 1 week study leave
    • NHS Pension
    • BMA model terms for sick pay, maternity pay and continuity of service

You must be qualified as a General Practitioner and registered with the GMC and UK performers list.
