GP – Katoomba NSW

Job Summary

This is a rare opportunity to step into an already loyal, ready-made patient list at a well-established Blue Mountains practice, with a generous 70% fee split and a $150 AUD (£80) per hour minimum guarantee. Set in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains, this role offers genuine work-life balance just under two hours from Sydney.

The Practice

• AGPAL-accredited, mixed billing practice, recently under new ownership, with a long-standing local reputation built up over more than 17 years in the Upper Blue Mountains.
• 3 GPs currently in the practice across multiple partners, supported by a dedicated Practice Manager and a full team of nurses.
• The practice is not currently taking new patients, so an incoming GP’s own list is expected to fill very quickly from day one.
• Hands-on training and onboarding support provided by the new owners throughout your transition into the role.
• Broad scope of family medicine across all ages, from new-borns through to aged care, plus an on-call after-hours service for patients outside normal opening hours.

Location Overview

Katoomba sits at the heart of the Blue Mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed national park, with Echo Point and the Three Sisters just minutes from the practice. Outdoor lovers can explore the Scenic World cableway and skyway over the Jamison Valley, walk the trails around Katoomba Falls, or browse the boutique shops and cafes of nearby Leura village. Sydney CBD is around 1 hour 25 minutes away by car or 2 hours by train, giving easy access to city life while living amid dramatic mountain scenery. Katoomba’s own cafes and galleries along Katoomba Street add a creative, community feel within walking distance of the practice, while around a quarter of local residents have both parents born overseas, reflecting a welcoming, mixed community.

Skills and Requirements

• Must be qualified as a General Practitioner and registered with the GMC and UK Performers List, or with the AMC and RACGP.
• MRCGP or equivalent qualification.
• Open to GPs of any experience level, from newly qualified to senior.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, suited to a close-knit, sociable team.
