Salaried GP | Near Daventry, Northamptonshire

    Background

A capped duty day, minimal home visiting and a genuinely open-door team culture set this rural Northamptonshire role apart. Duty contacts are limited to a manageable level, home visits are rare, and colleagues at every level are encouraged to seek support without hesitation. For a GP with an interest in dermoscopy, there is also scope to help build a dedicated specialist clinic.

    Location

The role is based at a two-site rural practice near Daventry, Northamptonshire, serving a mixed community that ranges from affluent to more moderate in profile. Daventry is around 10 minutes away by car, Northampton around 20 minutes, and Towcester around 15 minutes, giving good access to shops, schools and transport links for anyone relocating to the area.

    The Practice

    • Registered GP Training Practice
    • A genuinely open-door, non-hierarchical culture with a strong family feel, and Partners based on-site
    • Low duty burden, with patient contacts capped at a manageable level and built-in supervision time, meaning GPs are very rarely still in the building after 6:30pm
    • Very low home visiting requirement, averaging around once a week across the whole salaried GP workforce and predominantly covered by ANPs
    • Mid-sized practice
    • Dispensing practice
    • Rated Good by the CQC across all domains

    Your Role

    • 6 to 8 sessions available, with flexibility around the working pattern
    • A predictable day structured around 22 x 15-minute face-to-face appointments plus 3 x 10-minute telephone calls
    • Duty doctor sessions roughly once a week, pro-rata to sessions worked
    • Enhanced access is optional rather than mandatory, with the flexibility to swap a session for a later start, plus optional Friday evening and Saturday sessions paid at a strong premium for anyone wanting to earn more
    • Scope to develop a specialist interest, with dermoscopy particularly welcomed and support for a dedicated clinic
    • Skilled Worker visa sponsorship available.

You must be qualified as a General Practitioner and registered with the GMC and UK performers list.

    Salary and Benefits

    • £11,800 per session
    • BMA model contract
    • NHS Pension
    • GMC fees and indemnity covered
    • One week of study leave per year
    • Six weeks’ annual leave plus bank holidays
