Background –

You will be working for a dynamic and pioneering organisation at the forefront of change and innovation within primary care. With significant support available from a sizeable back-office team as well as outstanding investment into ARRS-funded roles, you will be well-backed and able to develop a long-term career, with the leadership keen to help GPs realise their aspirations through bespoke created personal development plans.

This is a new partnership between the practice and the local hospitals, appreciative of the increase in popularity of portfolio careers where GPs are looking to combine two or more positions.

You would work 4 or more sessions in General Practice with an additional 2-4 sessions working in the Trust’s Hopsital@Home team. This service is a safe and efficient alternative to hospital care that is enhanced by technology. It supports patients to remain at home who would otherwise be in hospital to receive the acute care, monitoring and treatment that they need and includes either preventing avoidable admissions into hospital or supporting early discharge out of hospital. The service can help patients to complete their treatment or be monitored prior to surgery from the comfort of their own home.

Forever keen to attract new GPs to the area, Tier 2 visa sponsorship and an attractive relocation package are also both available with both newly qualifying and established GPs encouraged to apply.

Salary – £11,600 – £15,000 per session + Indemnity paid, NHS pension, electric car scheme, 6 weeks annual leave, 1 week study leave, up to £10,000 relocation assistance

Location – Yeovil (GP work can be in other locations in Somerset)

The practice –

  • Multi-site practice offering a variety of population groups
  • Progressive, innovative take on general practice
  • Nurse Practitioners and Emergency Care Practitioners supporting GPs daily
  • Regular internal meetings and educational support
  • Mentoring and support for newly qualified GPs
  • Offering genuine portfolio careers with special interests encouraged as evidenced by this role

Your role –

  • Salaried GP with portfolio role in Oncology
  • 4 or more General Practice sessions
    • AskmyGP appointment system leaving you in control of your day
  • 2-4 Hospital@Home sessions (weekdays and within typical GP hours)
    • Preventing avoidable admissions into hospital
    • Supporting early discharges out of hospital
    • Health monitoring, video consultations and home visits
    • Care plan development including:
      • Medical treatments such as oxygen, antibiotic therapy, or medications administered intravenously
      • Regular blood tests or physical observations
      • Simple digital devices may be used, such as healthcare apps and blood pressure monitors.
